Asia Argento was raised in Rome by a film-maker and actor family. She pursued both professions herself. At nine years of age the actress made her film debut alongside Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. The role she played was the main one in the film of Cristina Comencini's Zoo (1988) and appeared as a part of Michele Savi's 1989 film The Church.
